Mrs. Ward received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Tennessee Technological University. She also received an add-on degree in Exceptional Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and gifted certification from Middle Tennessee State University.  Mrs. Ward became certified in Personal Finance through the University of Tennesse in 2012.



Experience

Mrs Ward began her teaching career at Soddy Daisy High as an interim teacher after graduating from college.  She then began a career in social services until the birth of her children.  While living in West Tennessee she held the position of assistant daycare director and program assistant for the University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension.  Upon moving to Upper East Tennessee, Mrs. Ward was a teacher, and principal at Lakeway Academy, a day treatment facility in Morristown.  When the school was moved to Knoxville, Mrs. Ward taught K-6 Exceptional Education at Washburn School in Grainger County, TN.  In 2003, Mrs. Ward moved back to Soddy Daisy after a 14 year absent.  She taught gifted students at Soddy Daisy Middle School and Allen Elementary. The 2006-2007 school year, Mrs. Ward was transfered to Soddy Daisy High School as the gifted education teacher.  Currently, Mrs. Ward is teaching Personal Finance and Gifted Education. 



Bio

The former Karen Irwin, Mrs. Ward is a 1974 graduate of Soddy Daisy High School.  She is the daughter of Jimmie Teague Irwin and the late Tommy Irwin of Soddy Daisy.  Mrs. Ward has been married for 38 years to Jeff Ward and they have two grown children, Megan and Andy. Mrs. Ward is a 4th generation educator in the Hamilton County School System.  She currently serves as Homecoming Court Chairperson and is a member of the Soddy Daisy Alumni Hall of Fame Committee.
