Audio/visual Production

Students in Audio/Visual Production and communications learn and practice skills that prepare them for diverse post-high school education and training opportunities. This program of study will introduce you to a variety of interesting careers including: Video or Web Producer, Film Maker, Graphic Designer, Television Studio Producer, Stage Designer, Publisher, Radio Broadcaster, Fashion/Apparel Designer, or Illustrator. 

Future Ready Institute students will have an opportunity to pursue the Audio/Visual Production Program of study in the T.I.M.E.

Students in the Audio/Visual Program of study will have an opportunity to run the SDHS Broadcast News.



Entrepreneurship

Students interested in careers in planning, managing, and performing marketing activities to reach organizational objectives, as well as careers involved in the planning, management, and movement of people, materials, and products by road, air, rail, and water would benefit in learning about the entrepreneurial spirit and the Start-up movement happening in Chattanooga.  

A large percentage of jobs in Marketing has a bright outlook and are expected to grow rapidly in the next several years, due to ample job openings and the addition of new occupations. Small businesses comprise 63 percent of new private-sector jobs. 

Future Ready Institute students will have an opportunity to pursue the Entrepreneurship Program of study in the T.I.M.E.

Students in the Entrepreneurship Program of study will have an opportunity to run the SDHS Student Store @OneTwelve.


Web Design

The IT industry is a dynamic and entrepreneurial working environment that has a revolutionary impact on the economy and society. In addition to careers in the IT industry, IT careers are available in every sector of the economy - from Financial Services to Medical Services, Business to Engineering and Environmental Services. 

This program of study will introduce you to a variety of interesting careers including Web Design and Development, Graphic Designer, Publisher, Blogger, Journalist, UX (User Experience) Designer, Project Manager, Social Media Promoter, or App and Game Designer. 

Future Ready Institute students will have an opportunity to pursue the Web Design Program of study in the BlueCross Technology Academy.

Students in the Web Design Program of study will have an opportunity to run the SDHS Website.


Coding POS Image

Computer Science careers are available in every sector of the economy. Careers in IT involve the design, development, support, and management of hardware, software, multimedia and systems integration services. The information technology industry is a dynamic and entrepreneurial field that continues to have a revolutionary impact on the economy and on the world.

Students interesting in a career including Web Designer or Webmaster, Network Administrator or Technician, Security or Database Administrator, Computer or Game Programmer, Software Applications Architect, or Virtual Reality Specialist would benefit from being involved in the Coding program of study.

Future Ready Institute students will have an opportunity to pursue the Web Design Program of study in the BlueCross Technology Academy.

Taking AP Computer Science Principles and having a GPA of 3.0 will qualify students for participating in the Amazon Future Engineer Program, Scholarship, and Internship.

Future Ready Institute students in BCTA will have an opportunity to take AP Computer Science.
All students at SDHS can take AP Computer Science Principles as a junior or senior.

Teaching as a Profession Image

Teaching as a Profession is designed for students interested in becoming an educator. In this program of study covers the components of instruction, teaching strategies, types of assessments, student learning, special populations, educational technology, classroom management, lesson planning, professionalism, and more.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in an internship placement and built a professional portfolio in preparation for advanced training as future educators at the postsecondary level.
